Wednesday 3 June 2026 Reception's flower experiment Reception love to take part in an experiment and offer their thoughts, ideas and predictions. We used white flowers and kept them in test tubes of coloured water. The children were then asked to predict what they think would happen. Predications ranged from 'the flowers will die because they aren't attached to the plant anymore' to 'they'll change colour because they're drinking coloured water'.

Tuesday 26 May 2026 Reception bake a gingerbread man The children in Reception have spent the week reading the story of The Gingerbread man. It fast became one of our favourite stories and we spent the week acting out the story, joining in with repeated phrases and of course ... baking our very own Gingerbread man.

Friday 22 May 2026 Bronze class visit the Grace Darling Museum Bronze class had a great time in Bamburgh visiting the Grace Darling Museum to complete our history unit. We dressed up in costumes and acted out the heroic story. We then went to visit her memorial and finished off with a lovely ice-cream.

Friday 22 May 2026 Orange Class Sculptures This half term, Orange Class have been designing and making wire sculptures. They have demonstrated the Fell Dyke values of determination, friendship and excellence.

Monday 18 May 2026 Reception learn about growing The children in Reception were inspired by the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and followed instructions to make their own cress head plant.

Friday 15 May 2026 Exploring Circuits Orange Class have been creating their own circuits to catch the staff room burglar, who is stealing all of the biscuits! We have discussed how we can activate the circuit with different switches and how we will be alerted.

Monday 11 May 2026 Nursery's Tasty Minibeast Treats! The children in Nursery are still having lots of fun learning all about Minibeasts. Inspired by the story of The Very Lazy Ladybird' they decorated biscuits to look just like one! The children used their fine motor skills to mix and spread the red icing before adding eyes and chocolate buttons. The children all practised their careful counting using one to one correspondence to collect five chocolate drops for the ladybirds spots. We hope all our parents and carers got a glimpse of their wonderful work before it was gobbled up!

Thursday 30 April 2026 Year 3/4 - March 26- Food Chains In science scarlet class have been learning all about food chains and animals including humans. We learned how a food chain works and worked scientifically to create the diagrams.

Wednesday 29 April 2026 Marvellous Minibeasts in Nursery! Nursery have a had a wonderful start to the summer term learning all about minibeasts. They have been on lots of minibeasts hunts and started to find out more about these terrific tiny creatures! The children are especially excited to see how our caterpillars grow and change. Watch this space for updates!

Sunday 26 April 2026 Reception's Chick hatching experience The children in Reception have spent the first week of the term learning all about the lifecycle of a chick. We had 7 eggs delivered at the beginning of the week and by Thursday morning, we had 7 healthy chicks. The children enjoyed watching the chicks hatch and observed them drying in the incubator, before being moved into a large brooder cage. We all absolutely love watching and cuddling the chicks.

Thursday 23 April 2026 Bronze class English We started our new text today which is 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.' We were very excited by our soft toy Plop, the main character in the story. After we listened to the beginning of the story, we made our very own Plop using feathers. Then, we role played as Plop and asked him questions, using our question marks in our writing. We have completed some lovely descriptive writing of Plop too. What a busy start to the term!

Thursday 2 April 2026 Nursery-Easter Fun with Tiny Tweeties Morning and Afternoon Nursery had a wonderful end to the term singing and dancing to springtime themed and Easter songs with our friends from 'Tiny Tweeties'.

Thursday 2 April 2026 Year 1/2 - March - Church As part of their Religious Education unit on Christianity, the children in Pink and Blue class visited St Thomas' church.

Thursday 2 April 2026 Year 1/2 - March - Basketball Tournament This half term the children in KS1 have been learning how to play basketball. They have practiced, chest and bounce passes, dribbling the ball and most importantly working together as part of a team.

Thursday 2 April 2026 Orange class DT Orange class have been working hard in DT to create some plush toys. We have needed resilience to learn lots of new sewing techniques; including a blanket stitch, back stitch and running stitch.

Thursday 2 April 2026 Year 5/6 Hockey Tournament Orange, Purple and Turquoise class completed in an intra hockey tournament. All 3 classes showed excellent teamwork, friendship and determination as well as amazing hockey skills.

Monday 30 March 2026 Nursery-Easter Stay and Play The children have had an egg-cellent time completing Easter themed activities with their parents and carers during our Springtime Stay and Play. We hope you all enjoyed spending time together in Nursery.

Sunday 29 March 2026 Bronze class visit to St Thomas' Church Bronze class learned all about the Easter story on our visit to St Thomas' Church. We were all incredibly respectful and listened well to the stories and asked some very good questions. A big thank you to all the helpers at the church for being so kind and informative.

Friday 20 March 2026 Nursery Book Start Visit This week the children in Nursery had a special visit from the librarian. She read one of her favourite stories all about a bear and taught us a new nursery rhyme. She kindly brought everyone a Book Start Pack with two wonderful stories and rhymes to share and enjoy at home. We hope you all enjoy reading your books time and time again and maybe visit the library to see what others you can find!

Tuesday 17 March 2026 Reception learn about the Lunar New Year In Reception, we learn about a range of celebrations from around the world. Recently we have been exploring the Chinese New Year Lunar celebration and the story of The Great Race.

Friday 13 March 2026 Ready...Steady...Grow! The children in Nursery have been learning all about growing this half term. They have been exploring how to care for plants and thinking about plants we eat. They especially enjoyed trying some different fruits and making their own 'super veggies' inspired by the wonderful story 'Supertato!'
