Wednesday 11 March 2026 Year 1/2 - February - Art The children in blue class have been learning all about the artist Paul Klee. They looked at his painting Seneccio and talked about the use of shape and colour. The children then explored warm and cool colours, adding black and white to create shades and tints.

Wednesday 11 March 2026 Wonderful Writing Scarlet Class have been working really hard on their writing this half term. We have been using the text Stone Age Boy to inspire our ideas. We rewrote the story as an independent piece as if we were a character who time travels back to the Iron Age. We enjoyed reading our stories and sharing them with friends.

Thursday 5 March 2026 Orange Class Picasso artwork This half term Orange Class have been exploring the work of Pablo Picasso. We have mixed colours, created a colour palette and looked at his style of cubism

Wednesday 4 March 2026 Samba Drums This term Purple Class have been learning about samba drums. The lessons have focused on rhythm, teamwork, and musical creativity. Through learning traditional Brazilian percussion patterns, children have developed their confidence and coordination.

Wednesday 4 March 2026 Beamish Museum Last half-term Purple class visited Beamish Museum as part of our WW2 topic. The children enjoyed their workshop which looked at the lives of evacuees. They experienced what it would feel like during a blackout and reflected on how children would have felt when they had been evacuated.

Friday 20 February 2026 Nursery Luna New Year! Nursery have had a fantastic week celebrating Chinese New Year! The children had a special visit from Joy who told us the story of 'The Great Race' and brought her lion! They all joined in with a lion dance and ate some Chinese food. The children have completed lots of fun activities linked to the year of the horse. What a lovely end to our half term.

Thursday 19 February 2026 Reception celebrate Valentine's Day The children in Reception had spent the week learning all about Valentine's Day and the happiness that we spread when we share the things we love.

Wednesday 11 February 2026 NSPCC Number Day Thank you to all the children, staff and families for another successful Number Day! The children really ‘dressed up for digits' and thanks to your kind donations, we raised a total of £169 for NSPCC.

Monday 9 February 2026 Nursery's Love Week! This week in preparation for Valentines Day the children have been thinking about those that are special to them. Inspired by the story 'The Hug' we have discussed people who make us happy and thought of nice things we could do for them in return. The children have made lots of cards and pictures for their friends and family and completed other 'love' themed activities.

Friday 6 February 2026 Nursery Number Day 2026! The children in Nursery have had a busy day focussing on number. They completed a Numberblock hunt around the school and had a fantastic time completing different activities to develop their number skills!

Friday 6 February 2026 Super Shapes The children in Pink Class have enjoyed learning about shape in maths. They have created their own pictures using 2D shape templates and digital software, describing which shapes they have used. They have started to explore 3D shapes, naming the shapes and investigating the properties by seeing which shapes are best for building towers due to their curved and flat faces.

Friday 6 February 2026 KS1 Road Safety Pink and Blue Class enjoyed a visit from Sara who came to talk to us about road safety. The children practised the processes: STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, THINK and LOOK RIGHT, LEFT and RIGHT again.

Thursday 5 February 2026 Marvellous Maths Thank you to all of the parents and carers who have attended maths workshops from across Year 1 to Year 4 this half term. The events were very well attended and we hope you enjoyed the chance to work alongside your child; get a glimpse into our additional maths sessions at Fell Dyke and see how you can further support your child at home. Thursday 5 February 2026 Reception Multi skills Festival The children visited Gateshead stadium with their teachers, parents and lots of different schools this half term. Whilst visiting they took part in many different activities to get their bodies moving and to practise their co-ordination and balance skills. The children represented Fell Dyke following all of the rules and listening carefully to all of the instructions.

Thursday 5 February 2026 Road Safety in Reception This week the children in Reception were visited by Sara who came to teach us all about the green cross code. The children learnt how to stay safe before, during and after crossing a road. Ask the children the four things to remember... Stop, look, listen and think. After learning all of the rules they then played in role as cars, vans, pedestrians and a lollipop lady safely crossing each time.

Monday 2 February 2026 Nursery's Awesome Animals! The children in Nursery have loved our Animal theme this half term. They have accessed lots of learning opportunities linked to farm and jungle animals. It's been a 'roarsome' time!

Monday 26 January 2026 Orange Class Beamish Museum Orange class had a brilliant day at Beamish Museum. We learned about what it was like to be an evacuee.

Friday 23 January 2026 Year 3 - January 26- Locomotion Museum Jade Class loved their visit to the Locomotion museum. They learned all about George Stephenson, how trains changed over time and even got to go inside an old steam train! Ask them all about it.

Thursday 15 January 2026 Reception's Multi-skills event Some of the Reception children visited Gateshead Stadium to take part in a multi-skills PE event.

Friday 9 January 2026 Orange Class Soup Making Orange class had a lovely morning making seasonal soup for our Design Technology unit. We explored a range of chopping skills and our eyes were very sore after cutting all those onions!

Friday 9 January 2026 Purple Class Live Tales Last half term Purple Class visited the Live Theatre in Newcastle to take part in a creative writing workshop. They worked alongside a writer, editor and illustrator to create their own unique story and character.

Friday 9 January 2026 Year 3 - September 25- Design and Technology In design and technology, the children have been designing, making and evaluating a sandwich to meet a specific brief. They have enjoyed applying all of the skills they have learned, including: cutting, grating and slicing. Everyone agreed being able to taste it at the end was the best part!

Friday 9 January 2026 Year 3- January 2026- PE In PE, this half term Jade Class are doing ‘outdoors and adventurous'. This week we have been working on our team work skills.

Friday 9 January 2026 Year 3 -November 25- Stone Age to Iron Age Workshop Jade Class loved learning about the Stone Age to Iron Age. They had a special visitor who taught them all about how life changed during this time period. Ask them to tell you some of the facts they have learned.

Wednesday 7 January 2026 Bronze class and the Tin Forest Our new text in Bronze class this half term is 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward. Before we even read the book we made some pictures of tin forests using our creative skills. We discussed whether we would like to live in a tin forest and what the positives and negatives would be of living in a forest made of metal!

Wednesday 7 January 2026 Tasty Soup Making In December Purple class made some tasty soup dishes. We used a step-by-step method and seasonal ingredients to create their dish. The children took their soups home and rated them. We got some great reviews!

Friday 19 December 2025 It’s Christmas…! The children in Blue, Pink and Bronze classes enjoyed a fantastic Christmas party! There was singing, dancing, party games, party food and the arrival of a very special visitor…

Friday 19 December 2025 Reception's Autumn celebrations The children in Reception have been working incredibly hard this autumn term to achieve a range of awards, including 'Excellent Behaviour' certificates, Power of the Letter and our Bronze multiplication badges. The children also try to impress our class bears Rainbow Bear and Buddy Bear, with the hope that they will be chosen to take a bear home for the weekend.
