Forest Fridays

As well as exploring their new classrooms the children in Reception have also spent Friday afternoon exploring our school forest. Each week we have learnt about the different rules when entering the forest, walking near the fire pit and going up and down the hills.

On their first week the children and I noticed the blackberries on the tree's were ripe enough to pick. The children carefully selected all of the big, juicy blackberries and added them to our tub. After soaking the blackberries in water we then decided to make a blackberry crumble. Mrs Routledge collected all of the ingredients we would need and after cooking in the oven - we ate it together. Some of the children thought the crumble was delicious and sweet. Mrs Routledge had added apples to make it less sour and we had custard too.

Playing and exploring is one of our characteristics of learning - take a look at our photos of us doing just that!
